Background

Danielle Tayle runs the brothel that's favorited by sailors, the Black Mermaid Inn. She does her best to keep everything running smoothly. Knowing men often run their mouths too freely when intimate, Danielle runs her business as much for the knowledge her women learn as the money they make. While Danielle doesn’t want trouble in town, she is more than willing to sell rival pirate ships information on each other’s operation, resulting in a number of deceits in the high seas. For her information, Danielle always gets a cut and so far her information brokering activities have led to lead back to her.

Many of the girls, including Danielle who works there have taken to tattooing their hips with a floury fin-like belt as many mermaids are depicted as having. A (mostly) friendly rivalry has started as well that for every gold dragon earned a girl adds another delicate scale below the belt. So a client can see just how valuable his or her (yes there are man whores available too) whore of choice is. The term 'Pay by the scale' was coined at the black mermaid, as it has also become custom that every scale a whore has will cost the client a stag each. Of course, reasonable bargains are offered to regular guests.

Danielle fashions herself in jewelry, clothing, and styles her hair to look quite a bit like a mermaid that's just gotten her legs after coming ashore.
