Description

Fae Mien

Amaltheia is blessed with a beauty that can go from wild to elegant with ease. Her copper-red hair tumbles around her shoulders. Her slender form moves with grace and purpose. Like most satyrs, her voile leaves little to the imagination, wearing nothing over her rust-red furred legs, and only the lightest of materials to cover her enormous breasts. She is often noted for her rather impressive bosom, and ever since she took over the duchy there has been a running joke about how the prosperity of the fief is directly reflected in Amaltheia’s cup size.

Mortal Seeming

A striking woman with curly locks of copper-red. She is always clad in elegant, but easily accessible attire. Though already midway through her forties, she appears much younger. Her form and figure are maintained beneath an athletic physique. She is often noted for her rather impressive bosom, which has sadly distracted from her capability and intelligence.

Personality

She flirts, she teases, she seduces, she plays. Some part of Amaltheia never fully grew up, but the rest of her is mature enough to make up for it. She holds on to a philosophical belief in the necessity of continued sexuality to maintain youth and vigor. So far no one can prove her wrong.

When it comes to the duchy, though, she couldn’t be more serious about anything.

Background

Amaltheia Lovejoy has been known as a spoiled brat, a carouser, a self-indulgent bubblehead. Even she will admit to having been such at various points in her life, but today she is none of these things. Having learned from the mistakes of her past, Amaltheia has grown into a formidable woman, and a charismatic leader.

Once upon a time, Amaltheia was nobody of great consequence. She did not lack for ambition, but she had difficulty being taken seriously and respected for her intellect, rather than her beauty and voluptuous figure. Despite several attempted business ventures, nothing panned out for her, and she eventually resigned herself to living off of wealthy men that wanted something beautiful on their arms and in their beds.

When a vicious wind called Katrina devastated New Orleans, everything changed. Amaltheia had been dating an older man named Chester Beaumonde, though she was not with him when the hurricane struck. She was otherwise occupied with organizing several motleys in rescue efforts in the Ninth Ward. The changelings had plenty of contacts and access in the French Quarter, and arranged for a variety of shelters there for the refugees. Amaltheia herself oversaw a number of families in a rather run-down club, assisted by Sir Vashen Swiftblade, Galdur Stonefist the troll, and one of NOPD's finest, Dame Lauria of the Ruby Eye.

Amaltheia did all she could to keep the refugees' spirits alive. They had no electricity to power the club's sound system, but a satyr has little need of such things. She led song circles, storytelling, and even taught a few of her wards to dance. The activity started to draw attention from other refugees and locals sticking out the disaster in the Quarter. Dame Lauria arrived with a generator she had procured, and some locals donated gasoline to power it. Soon the club's lights were on, music was playing, and the kitchen was cooking. Life and hope emanated from the run down building, and people found they could smile and laugh again.

It wasn't until a week after Katrina that Amaltheia learned of Chester's death. Apparently he'd been caught in the flooding, and though he did not drown, the pneumonia took him quickly. Though she mourned for him, Amaltheia was astonished and delighted to discover that he had left her a significant sum of money in his will. As soon as she was able to procure the funds, she purchased the club and started renovations.

It was Sir Vashen that first pointed out the significance of Amaltheia owning the building that had become a wellspring of glamour amidst a barren waste of banality. Amaltheia understood what he meant, but she had not the resources to try to create a freehold, let alone hold it. But Vashen, Lauria, and Galdur all pledged to support her and invest their own glamour to see the freehold come about. An oathcircle was born, and after several weeks and hard work, the balefire was lit. Amaltheia reopened the place under the name, The Cornucopia Club, though patrons quickly shortened it to simply "Cornucopia" or "the Horn".

Eventually, word of what had happened in that run down club reached the ears of King Meilge. For Amaltheia's great service and remarkable achievement of creating a strong, new freehold in the midst of great despair, he ennobled her and made her freehold the seat of power in the Barony of the Big Easy (much to the chagrin of "Baroness" Pearl). She had always been on good terms with local House Fiona fae, so they were quick to take her into their fold, vastly improving their position and power in the Kingdom of Willows.

It has never been entirely clear how the ascension of Amaltheia and House Fiona sat with Duchess Lisette of the Delta Crescent. The decision was over her head, though it is assumed that King Meilge at least consulted her. Still, she has remained rather distant from Amaltheia's "Court of Plenty", seemingly concerning herself with matters in the bayou, leaving city affairs to the new baroness. Though Amaltheia has reached out to Lisette many times over the years, the Duchess makes few appearances, remaining as mysterious and unknowable as any Eiluned sidhe ever was.

Amaltheia has proven a popular ruler. She is well loved by the commoners, and the endorsements of Dame Lauria and Sir Vashen went a long way toward ensuring her position with the sidhe. She has shown herself to be a competent administrator, finally able to bring her intelligence to bear without being dismissed for being beautiful. Still, she is a satyr to the bone. She is always throwing a party, her promiscuity is legendary, and it isn’t unusual at all to find her at least a bit tipsy. It doesn’t seem to affect her ability to govern, though. In fact, in the Big Easy, her celebratory outlook is embraced.

In 2014, Duchess Lisette surprised everyone when she declared Amaltheia to be no longer the Baroness, but the Countess of the Big Easy, her fiefdom expanded over the entire Greater New Orleans region. Lisette gave no explanation for the decision, save that Amaltheia's custody of the city has proven her abilities. Since then, Lisette has again retreated to Spirit Hall, and Amaltheia has come to rely more and more on other nobles to manage matters in the city while she looks to the needs of her county.

King Meilge

King Meilge

King of Willows

I was as surprised as anybody when he summoned me to Willow's Heart. But he proved his commitment to the commoners that day, and I think we've maintained a good relationships ever since.

Duchess Lisette Levay

Duchess Lisette Levay

Duchess of the Delta Crescent

I wish I could say I had a strong relationship with Lisette. The truth is, I don't know what to make of her. She keeps to herself so much, and on the rare occasion that she visits the Court of Plenty, she has little to say, and rarely stays long. I suppose I have impressed her. Did did make me a Countess, after all.

Dame Lauria of the Ruby Eye

Dame Lauria of the Ruby Eye

Fiona Knight

Through thick and thin, Lauria has always been there for me. She believed in me when nobody else did. No oath can compare to the bond of loyalty I feel toward that woman.

Sir Vashen Swiftblade

Sir Vashen Swiftblade

Scathach Knight

Though he came to New Orleans for Lauria, he stayed for me. He is always insisting that my kith will make me a target, seeing enemies in every shadow. So far I have needed little in the way of protection, but I'm glad to have Vashen with us, all the same.

Galdur Stonefist

Galdur Stonefist

Mighty Warrior

I know better than most that a person is not defined by the mistakes of the past. Galdur's mistakes were grave, but his actions today are of an honorable man. How many times must a man atone for what cannot be changed?

Mercutio Lovejoy

Mercutio Lovejoy

Fiona Squire

I thought I couldn't be more delighted than when my nephew underwent his Chrysalis. I was proven wrong at his Saining when we learned he has been my kin for ages. One day, if he proves to be just and compassionate, he will inherit this domain.

Merits & Flaws

Reputation 2 pt. Merit You have a good reputation among the changelings of your Court. This may be your own reputation, or it may be derived from your mentor. Reduce the difficulty of all social dealings with others of your Court by two. However, those who desire to bring down the hierarchy will seek to besmirch your fine standing.
Sex Appeal 3 pt. Merit Your sexiness and sensuality attracts lovers to you like moths to a flame. You are the irresistible center of attention at any gathering. All rolls where sexual attraction matters have the difficulty reduced by three. This Merit cannot be used to seduce someone lacking a baseline of sexual attraction to the character.
Impatient 1 pt. Flaw Action always trumps inaction, and standing around is for geezers. Once per story, if you’re forced to wait around instead of acting, make a Composure + Resolve roll (difficulty 5). Failure makes you repeatedly insist on action, to the likely annoyance of your motley. If they do not follow your advice, you likely act no matter their attempts to stop you.

Birthrights & Frailty

glyph_kith_satyrs.png
Gift of Pan Birthright When a satyr thoroughly indulges in one of their passions — often sexual, but also artistic and creative — those around them are also caught up in the frenzy. Fae and mortal alike join in the dancing and debauchery. The Gift of Pan doesn’t force anyone to partake in sex or any other activity, but removes inhibitions that might normally keep someone from indulging. Rather than creating a new passion, the Gift of Pan removes the barriers of social convention that might otherwise prevent someone from being able to completely surrender to an action of passion or revelry. Those failing a Banality or Composure + Resolve roll (difficulty 8) find themselves helpless to resist indulging their secret desires.
Physical Prowess Birthright Satyrs add one dot to their Stamina, even if this raises it above 5. Satyrs can use their powerful goat legs to move with great speed and agility, and thus can never botch an Athletics roll. Satyrs also increase their base Speed by +3.
Passion’s Curse Frailty A satyr’s intense passion also has a darker side. Prone to mood swings and wild fits of temper, especially while intoxicated, satyrs may exhibit violent emotional outbursts, fall into uncontrolled weeping, or be otherwise unable to rein in their temper. Near-perpetual indulgence also means that satyrs struggle on the rare occasion they must resist temptation, triggering Banality.

House Boon & Flaw

crest_house-fiona.png
House Fiona Boon Those swearing fealty to House Fiona are truly courageous, and fear holds no power over them. Even in the face of certain defeat, Fiona’s legendary reckless bravery continues to shine. As such, any attempt to generate fear in them, magical or natural, automatically fails. The only thing that can truly inspire fear in a member of Fiona is a direct threat to the life and safety of a lover; these attempts are not subject to automatic failure.
House Fiona Flaw Fiona’s passions easily become obsessions, and their recklessness in the face of peril quickly transforms into seeking out danger for danger’s sake. A faerie of this house finds ways to make even the more mundane passions, like food or drink, into hazardous activities — she’s the one eating the deadly fugu sashimi or challenging the troll twice her size to a drinking contest. In romance, especially, Fiona’s passionate nature attains lofty heights, with epic love affairs that often end in tragedy. When a member of House Fiona backs down from a challenge in order to avoid risk, they lose one Willpower.

Possessions

Treasures & Chimerical Items

  • Amaltheia possesses an Opal of Wondrous Luminescence. A simple treasure, it normally maintains a chimerical glow, which glows brighter in the presence of Glamour. But the presence of Banality will cause its light to fade and the stone to grow even darker. Amaltheia uses the opal to keep an eye of the levels of Banality in the Cornucopia Club. When it goes dark, the tragos starts playing.
